📞 Pipeology Solutions - Common Questions & Answers

🔥 General Heating Questions

1️⃣ "What types of heating systems do you install?"

• "We specialize in installing all-electric heat pumps and dual-fuel  heating systems. We can assess your home's needs and recommend the best  option."

2️⃣ "Can I switch from a gas furnace to a heat pump?"

• "Yes! Many homeowners are switching to heat pumps for efficiency and  rebate opportunities. However, we’ll need to check your home’s  electrical capacity and heat loss to ensure it’s a good fit."

3️⃣ "What’s the difference between a heat pump and a dual-fuel system?"

• "A heat pump runs entirely on electricity, while a dual-fuel system  combines a heat pump with a gas furnace backup. This can be a good  option if your electrical service can’t handle a full heat pump system."

🏠 Home Requirements for a Heat Pump

4️⃣ "What home requirements do I need to install a heat pump?"

• "To install a central heat pump, we need to check your home's heat loss  calculation, ductwork, and electrical panel capacity. We may also need  to upgrade your electrical service if it's below 100 amps."

5️⃣ "I have 100-amp or less, electrical service. Can I install a heat pump?"

• "100 amps is the minimum required. If you go all electric, It will depend on your homes heat  loss. If you have a great heat loss, then 100 amps may be too small, but  if its a small heat loss then chances are it will suffice.

•        "If your homes heat loss is too large and you don't want to upgrade your service, your only other option is a dual fuel system through the Fortis BC rebate program, for dual fuels require a minimum amount of electricity to operate.

6️⃣ "How do I know if I need an electrical upgrade?"

• "If your panel doesn’t have space for two double-pole breakers, or if  your home's total electrical load is already high, you may need an  upgrade. We can assess this and guide you through available rebates for  service upgrades."

7️⃣ "Are you licensed to assess my panel?"

• "Yes! we can come assess your electrical needs, or you can send us a picture of your electrical panel, and we can  often tell from that whether a heat pump will work without an upgrade."

📊 Heat Loss Calculation & Home Assessment

8️⃣ "What is a heat loss calculation, and why do I need one?"

• "A heat loss calculation determines how much heat your home loses,  which helps us size your heat pump correctly. It’s also required for  most rebate programs."

9️⃣ "I already have a heat loss report. Can we submit this?"

• "Your heat loss report will need to be calculate by an approved  contractor or home energy assessor. All heat loss calculations need to  be included in the report. Providing an energy efficiency report which  only gives your home an energy rating, is not accepted. Clean BC  requires calculated reports through approved software only.

🔟 "Can you provide a heat loss calculation if I don’t have one?"

• "Yes! there will be a fee for this but we can definitely provide you  with a full heat loss calculation done by our specialist."

💰 Rebates & Financial Assistance

1️⃣1️⃣ "What rebates are available for heat pump installation?"

• "There are two main rebate programs: Clean BC and Fortis BC. Depending  on your income, you could qualify for rebates up to $16,000 with Clean  BC and up to $15,000 through the Fortis BC program."

• "Upgrades typically cost around $8,000, but if major infrastructure  changes (like transformers or house lines) are needed, it can be even  more."
